Two Arrested for Drug Trafficking Following Brief Pursuit into Cherokee County…

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, two individuals were arrested on Tuesday after a brief pursuit into Cherokee County in the Ball Play area.  The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office initiated the pursuit that traveled into Cherokee County on County Road 24.  Cherokee County deputies and investigators responded to assist and took the two into custody.  Ryan Nicole Padgett, 31 of Leesburg, and Jabe Whorten, 41 of Leesburg, were both transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on the charges of drug trafficking, unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Padgett was additionally charged with promoting prison contraband and possession with intent to distribute.
