According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 57 year-old Douglas F. Goffaux of Centre was arrested Friday, May 25, 2018, in Leesburg by Cherokee County Chief Investigator Josh Summerford on a multi-count grand jury indictment involving sex crimes. Goffaux was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age,  three counts of second degree sodomy, and four counts of second degree sexual abuse. The investigation, conducted by Chief Summerford, stemmed from allegations of illegal activity from 2013-2018. Goffaux was arrested in April for one count of sodomy relating to this case. The suspect remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
