05/11/2018

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant in the amount of $24,000 from Governor Kay Ivey through the Alabama Department of Economic Development (ADECA).   The Sheriff's Office recently acquired two new patrol vehicles for Deputy Sentell and Deputy Money.  The funds from the grant allowed the Sheriff's to purchase the new patrol vehicles.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice.

"The brave men and women of our law enforcement agencies put their lives on the line each and every day to serve and protect their communities," Ivey said. "I am pleased to help them obtain the needed equipment to enable them to do their jobs effectively and safely."

Sheriff Shaver said he appreciates the support from Governor Ivey, ADECA, and the County Commission in this project.
