Jessie B. Godfrey, 24 of Centre, was taken into custody Thursday, February 1, 2018, by Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jordan Kelley in connection with an assault and credit card fraud case. According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the suspect was involved in an assault that occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot involving a vehicle. The suspect was also charged for using the victim’s credit cards in at least seven locations in and around Centre.

Godfrey was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of second degree assault, seven counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and failure to appear for attempting to elude and unlawful possession of controlled substance.
