Sheriff’s Office Investigators Locate Robbery Suspect…

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 41 year-old Sheldon Williams of Fort Payne was taken into custody in connection with an assault and robbery that occurred on Saturday, May 13, 2017, in Sand Rock.  Sheriff’s Office investigators quickly identified the suspect and began the search for him.  Chief Investigator Josh Summerford located Williams at a convenience store in Floyd County, Georgia, the following Tuesday.  Floyd County authorities charged Williams with several crimes including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, fugitive from justice, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  Williams was transported to the Floyd County Jail and will eventually be extradited to DeKalb County for a parole revocation warrant and Cherokee County where he will face charges for robbery, assault, and theft.  Sheriff’s Office investigators recovered items in the possession of the suspect taken during the robbery.  Sheriff Shaver stated he appreciates Floyd County’s assistance during the arrest.
