Two Arrested in Ellisville Community on Drug Charges…

On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 14 in the Ellisville community, which resulted in the arrest of two individuals.  Shawn Daniels, 32, was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first degree unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Paige Jelks, 24, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first degree unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Jelks was an employee at the Cherokee County Detention Center.  Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated, “Public employees are to be held to a higher standard, and it is very disappointing when an employee fails to meet that standard.”  Shaver emphasized, “Our Office will not tolerate those who abuse the trust that has been placed in them.  Our employees are here to protect, serve and uphold the law, not violate it."
