According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, a Centre man was taken into custody after a brief pursuit on County Road 131 in Cedar Bluff.  Investigator Michael Green attempted to stop the 2003 Nissan Altima, driven by Adam Kane Wright, when the suspect began to flee.  The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a tree and a fence.  Investigators located illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, and an illegal firearm in the vehicle.  Wright, age 18, was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on multiple charges including attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, possession of an altered firearm, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, criminal mischief, and other traffic violations.
