Barricaded Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested in Sand Rock...

10/13/2016

Early Wednesday morning on October 12, 2016, Cherokee County authorities responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in Sand Rock, where a female was reportedly being held against her will by a man armed with a gun.  Law enforcement arrived to find the female victim had escaped the residence, but the suspect had barricaded himself inside with a small child.  After a brief standoff, Sheriff Jeff Shaver and investigators took the suspect into custody, and the unharmed child was taken to safety.  Deputies transported 35 year-old Donald A. Voyles to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he awaits bond on charges of making terroristic threats, first degree unlawful imprisonment, resisting arrest, and third degree domestic violence.
