Leesburg Man Arrested on Charges of Sexual Abuse of a Child

Investigators assigned to the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit from Leesburg Police Department and the Sheriff's Office arrested James Howard Hancock, 23, of Leesburg, on Thursday, June 2, 2016, in connection to a child sexual abuse case. Investigators received information over the Memorial Day weekend about the alleged incident. Hancock is charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age. He remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $40,000 cash bond. The case is under investigation by the Major Crimes Unit.
