Georgia Man Apprehended in Cherokee County in Stolen Vehicle From Rome Dealership

On Friday, February 12, 2016, an employee of Riverside Chevrolet in Rome, Georgia, left the dealership in a 2016 Tahoe for fuel and failed to return.  An on-board global positioning system was activated, which indicated the vehicle was located in Cherokee County, Alabama.  A theft report was filed with the Rome Police Department.  Lt. Bo Jolly spotted the vehicle on County Road 45 and performed a traffic stop.  The driver fled and was stopped again by deputies and investigators on County Road 29.  Jimmy Wayne Blair, 38, of Silver Creek, Georgia, was arrested and charged with first degree receiving stolen property and attempting to elude police.  Blair remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting bond.  He will face additional theft charges in Rome, Georgia.
