Pedestrian Struck in the Ringgold Community…

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, an 18 year-old female walking along County Road 41 was struck by a vehicle in the Ringgold community, just before midnight on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.  Deputies Tyler Perea and John Sentell and Chief Investigator Josh Summerford responded to the scene to find the driver had fled.  Cherokee EMS and the Broomtown Fire Department responded quickly and treated the injured victim.  The woman was airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.  The driver, Rondal Lawayne Ragan, 30, of Gaylesville returned to the scene, while emergency personnel were still there.  According to witnesses, Ragan was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.  Ragan was taken into custody and charged with first degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident.  He remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center on $17,500 bond.
