According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, several Tasers were purchased for his department recently with funds provided by Commissioner Marci Foster.  Officer Steve Street, a Taser instructor with the Sheriff’s Office, procured the new Tasers, which are equipped with video cameras to record all deployments of the device.  The number of injuries to officers and suspects has been greatly reduced with the use of these non-lethal devices.  Sheriff Shaver stated he appreciates Commissioner Foster’s support for his department and the community.
