Deputies Rescue Suicidal Man

   According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at approximately 3:21 p.m. deputies responded to a domestic situation at a Gaylesville residence. When they arrived on the scene, the deputies were informed the suspect had fled into the woods behind the residence. As they searched the woods, the deputies saw the man climb a tree, tie a rope around his neck, and jump from the tree. Deputies Jeremy Stepps and David Kirk rushed to the suspect, cut the rope, and lowered him to the ground. The man was breathing but unconscious. He was air-lifted to an area hospital for treatment. This case remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Office Investigator Tony Monroy.
