Wanted Suspect Apprehended in Moshat Community

According to Cherokee County Sheriff, deputies stopping to assist a person walking in the freezing cold weather turned into nabbing a wanted suspect on Wednesday morning, January 7. At 9:42 a.m. Deputies Gene Knowles and Jeremy Stepps observed an individual walking north on US Hwy 411 in the Moshat community. As they turned around to check on the individual, he fled into a wooded area. After a brief pursuit on foot and search, Justin Dewayne Gossett, age 24, of Centre was taken into custody at 10:20am. Gossett was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and arrested on three outstanding traffic warrants from the City of Centre. Officers from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cedar Bluff and Centre Police Departments assisted in the apprehension.
