Three Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Deputy Daniel Money and Reserve Nick Helms initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on US Highway 411 north of Centre on Monday afternoon, April 28. Approaching the vehicle, Deputy Money smelled an odor of what he believed to be burning marijuana and called for assistance from the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative and Counter-Drug Unit. Investigators and deputies discovered a sizable amount of illegal narcotics including marijuana, Ecstacy, molly, and various prescription drugs along with a large sum of cash. Miles Edward Borcherdt, 20, Randell Kaleta Dolin, 19, and Brent Joseph Champagne, 21, all of Louisianna, were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and first degree unlawful possession of marijuana. The three were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center. The suspects were traveling through Cherokee County from a location in Georgia where they had attended a festival this past weekend.
