Several Rescued From Weiss Lake During Storm

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a sudden storm Wednesday evening and a stranded boat with nine occupants, five of them children, resulted in a water rescue.   Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Cherokee EMS, and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the powerless vessel near Yellow Creek.  The boat lost power during an intense storm, and some of the male passengers were in the water. The boat drifted away, and the men were unable to reach the boat.  The Rescue Squad towed the boat to shore, and all of the subjects in the water safely reached the shore.  There were no injuries reported.
