07/06/2011

PRESS RELEASE

On Tuesday July 5, 2011 at approximately 5:00 p.m. agents with the Cherokee County Narcotics Unit, assisted by Cherokee County deputies, were in the area of county road 75, in the Cedar Bluff community, conducting covert narcotics operations.

After observing a white Ford Taurus, occupied by a white male driver and a white female passenger, suspected as being involved in an illegal narcotics transaction, and recovering a quantity of methamphetamine from the transaction , officers followed the suspect vehicle a short distance from the scene and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle to further investigate.

The driver then attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle, and was pursued to a gravel pit on county road 41 just off of county road 75. The male driver pulled into the gravel pit and stopped where both occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the wooded area adjacent to the gravel pit. During a subsequent search of the wooded area, several units from Cherokee County S.O., Cedar Bluff P.D. and Leesburg P.D. were called in to secure a perimeter around the area, and officers located the female subject, who was identified as Regina Sheryl Brock, of a Silver Creek Georgia address.

Ms Brock is currently being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center with charges pending. The investigation into the identity and whereabouts of the male subject continues with charges pending and an arrest expected in the near future.
