According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, agents with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit spent the past week educating area school children about the perils of illegal drug use. Over five hundred students participated in the second annual Cherokee County Choice Program, which was held at the Gadsden State Cherokee campus. Students listened to anti-drug presentations conducted by narcotics unit agents and were presented with t-shirts, pens, and pencils promoting safety and anti-drug messages. Funding for the materials was provided by a grant through the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs.
