Missing Person Investigation
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, authorities are investigating the report of a missing person. Ashley Rebecca Taylor, age 22, of Gadsden, was last seen in a dark blue 1995 Dodge Dakota pick up truck with a white camper shell at Leesburg Landing, where she had been camping with her husband. Benny M. Taylor, age 54, was arrested at approximately 3 a.m. on October 22 for public intoxication and is cooperating with authorities. On October 23 Ashley Taylor's mother filed a missing person's report. On October 24 the Taylor's vehicle was discovered submerged in about 16 feet of water at the Landing. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad were called in to assist.
