Drug Arrest


The Cherokee County Narcotics Unit began an investigation after people in the community called in and left information about illegal drug activity in the county. The investigation culminated in the arrest of a suspect at his residence that is located at 300 Co. Rd. 494 Centre Alabama 35960. The Narcotics Unit along with assistance from Investigators and Deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The Officers had enough Information to arrest a suspect and conduct a search of his vehicle and residence. The suspect was in possession of a large quanity of Narcotics and a large sum of cash. The suspect was arrested around 9:00 PM and was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center after the search was completed. Jamey Michael Latty age 31 of 300 Co. Rd. 494 Centre Alabama 35960 was charged with Unlawfull Possession of A Controlled Substance (Meth). He is currently lodged in the Detention Center awaiting a Bond Hearing. This arrest is one of the first made under the "The Cherokee County Drug Enhancement Program" , a program which is funded by a $300.00.00 Federal GrantAllocation. The federal funding comes via th newly established Recovery Act by the Department of Justice, BJA-OJP
