11/25/2025
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, around 10:30 p.m. last night, deputies assisted the Centre Police Department on a call involving a man refusing to let a woman exit a vehicle. During the initial investigation, it was determined the incident began within the Sheriff's Office jurisdiction.
Deputies and officers responded to 210 Day Street in Centre in attempts to make contact with the suspect. Upon contact with the suspect inside the residence, the male stated he had a firearm and threatened to use it against law enforcement, while holding an object that deputies initially believed to be a firearm. After a brief standoff, deputies deployed less-lethal munitions, and the suspect was safely taken into custody. It was later determined that the male did not actually have a firearm.
The individual, identified as Randall Gossett, was arrested on charges of Terroristic Threats 1st Degree and Resisting Arrest.
Sheriff Shaver extends his appreciation to the Centre Police Department, Leesburg Police Department, and Cedar Bluff Police Department for their assistance in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
