Cherokee County Host Alabama Sheriffs...

10/16/2023

Last week, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, along with other Sheriff's Office staff members, welcomed Sheriffs and their command staffs, from across the State. This training event, started by Sheriff Shaver, in conjunction with the Alabama Sheriff's Association, has been held in Cherokee County for three consecutive years. Each year, 75-100 personnel, including around 30 of the State's sheriffs, come to Cherokee County to train and network about contemporary issues. This year's training included a criminal law update by District Attorney Summer Summerford and recruiting and retention by Performance Protocol.

Sheriff Shaver said, "I am proud to show off beautiful Cherokee County to my colleagues from across the State, many of which had never been to Cherokee County before this event."
