Deputies along with Cedar Bluff PD, Centre PD, and Leesburg PD responded to a shooting incident that occurred Saturday evening at a residence in the Blue Pond community near the intersection of County Road 48 and 662.

Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy, Josh Summerford, stated, "the victim and the shooter were acquaintances. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The shooter fled the scene but was soon taken into custody. He is identified as Joshua Jones, age 38 of Centre."

Jones has been charged with Assault 1st degree and lodged in the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Sheriff Shaver stated, "I appreciate the cooperative efforts from Cedar Bluff PD, Centre PD, and Leesburg PD that helped lead to the swift and successful apprehension of Jones."
