According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a Centre man was arrested Monday evening after almost breaking into a residence on County Road 83 in the area of Providence Church area.  A reserve deputy spotted a man acting suspiciously at the back door of a house and stopped to see what the person was doing.  The man ran off from the house and then went to another residence where the homeowner surprised him.  Deputies and an officer from the Department of Conservation arrived in the area and quickly apprehended the man who fled into a field.  Brandon Connell, age 27, was taken into custody and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substances and three warrants for failure to appear.
