Man Shot While Hunting

   According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a man suffering from a gunshot wound has been airlifted to a Birmingham hospital. Central Dispatch notified law enforcement and emergency medical personnel at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, a hunter had been shot and was seriously injured. Responders had to travel a long distance through the woods to reach the victim, Terry Dewayne Fortenberry, age 43, of a Hokes Bluff address. Fortenberry was hunting with his father and a friend when the incident occurred.  This case is currently under investigation by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit.
