Cedar Bluff Bank Robbery On Tuesday December 14, 2010 at approximately 11:00 AM the Union State Bank located on Alabama Highway 68 in Cedar Bluff, Alabama was robbed by four gunmen. All Cherokee County law enforcement agencies responded to the call and began conducting an area search for the suspects. Alert citizens of the Cedar Bluff area gave law enforcement officials accurate details of a suspect vehicle which was soon spotted on Alabama Highway 35 between Gaylesville and Little River Canyon travelling toward Ft. Payne. Deputies Tony Pettit and Keith Morgan of the Cherokee County Sheriffs Office observed and pursued the suspect vehicle on highway 35 into Dekalb County. Shortly after passing mile marker 16 the suspect vehicle ran into a ditch and the suspects fled on foot. Three of the four suspects were taken into custody within minutes after the accident. Two additional men were taken into custody late Tuesday evening after Ft Payne Police stopped them and found that they were attempting to locate and pick up the fourth suspect. The fourth man was arrested later in the afternoon by Ft. Payne Police. All of the suspects were identified and found to be from the Gadsden, Alabama area. Currently, the six men are being held in the Cherokee County Jail in connection with the robbery. According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the men are expected to be transported to Birmingham within the next 72 hours where they are expected to be charged for robbery and other related crimes.
