According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies recovered a stolen vehicle in the Broomtown area on October, 8, 2016.  Deputy Hunter Brisendine responded to a residence in northern Cherokee County after receiving information from On-Star that a vehicle stolen earlier in the day from Floyd County, Georgia, was located there.  When Deputy Brisendine arrived, a subject ran from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended.  Stephen J. Anthony, 31 , of Huntsville was charged with first degree receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude a police officer.  Anthony was also arrested on an existing warrant for failure to appear on previous felony drug charges. The suspect was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
