According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Cherokee County deputies and investigators recovered a stolen boat in the Yellow Creek area on Friday, May 6, 2016.  The boat was reported stolen from County Road 30 near Newberry Crossroads on May 2nd.  Evidence uncovered during an investigation by Investigators Michael Green and Brent Snead pointed to Kyle D. McMichen, 43, of Centre, as the suspect.  With the assistance of deputies and the Marine Police Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, authorities located the stolen boat near Yellow Creek Store and arrested  McMichen on charges of first degree theft of property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second degree unlawful possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  The suspect was transported by deputies to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he awaits bond.
