According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, an apparent suicide occurred at the Cherokee County Detention Facility on the afternoon of Monday, November 16, 2015. The State Bureau of Investigation is leading the inquiry with assistance from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the Major Crimes Unit, JSU Center for Applied Forensics, and Coroner Jeremy Deaton. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
