Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver reports that 32 year-old, Nathaniel Paul Maier, of Glencoe was arrested on Wednesday in Oklahoma. Maier became wanted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office after being indicted by a Cherokee County Grand Jury for Sexual Abuse of a Child under 12. The United States Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force was contacted for assistance after it became apparent that Maier was on-the-run from law enforcement.

After about a week, the U.S. Marshal’s Service was able to locate and apprehend Maier in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The suspect is also wanted for similar charges in Calhoun County. Maier was transported to the detention facility in Carter County, Oklahoma, where he awaits extradition back to Alabama.

Sheriff Shaver commended Chief Investigator Josh Summerford, Calhoun County Investigator Rachel Israel, and the Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force for their efforts in Maier’s apprehension.
