According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Mitchell L. Wood, age 54, of Cedar Bluff, was arrested in Kit Carson County, Colorado, last week on a warrant from Cherokee County.

A Cherokee County Grand Jury indicted Wood earlier this year for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, first degree, which is a felony. The Kip Carson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wood and he is expected to be in the Cherokee County Detention Center within the week.

Sheriff Shaver also reported that 2 individuals were arrested last week in upstate New York. They are both charged with Robbery, first degree, in Cherokee County. The pair was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Service and should also be in the Cherokee County Detention Center within the week.

Shaver said he appreciates the cooperative effort of law enforcement nationwide which allows local law enforcement to be able to apprehend fugitives no matter how far they may go.
