Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered

04/28/2015

On Friday, April 24, 2015, two vehicles were recovered by local authorities. Cherokee County Deputy Dustin Huggins responded to a call of a vehicle stolen from a residence on County Road 6. A little while later, the owner spotted someone behind him in his stolen vehicle traveling towards Calhoun County and called authorities. A Calhoun County officer spotted the vehicle, and the driver attempted to flee. The suspect, identified as 27 year-old Terry Anthony Proctor, wrecked and was taken into custody. Proctor is wanted by several agencies and was transported back to Cherokee County where he faces multiple failure to appear warrants and the new charges of first degree theft of property and possession of burglary tools.

Several hours later, Deputy Michael Green received a call from officers of Piedmont Police Department reporting a vehicle in a partially wooded area off of County Road 175. The vehicle was reported stolen from Jacksonville a couple of days earlier. It is unknown if the two crimes are related. Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated investigators from Cherokee County are working with investigators from Jacksonville Police Department and Calhoun County on both cases.
