According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a Gaylesville man was arrested after attempting to break into his parents’ residence on Wednesday, March 4th, at approximately 2:30pm.  Jeremy Shane Blackmon, age 34, allegedly used a tire tool to damage two doors and two windows in an attempt to enter the residence.  Blackmon fled the scene and was apprehended by Deputy Jeremy Stepps and Corporal Gene Knowles about two miles away in a field.  Blackmon is charged with second degree attempted burglary, second degree criminal mischief, attempting to elude, and resisting arrest.  He is currently incarcerated in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
