According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, dispatch received a call on Sunday afternoon, March 1st, that a man had been shot at a residence in the McCord’s Crossroads community. Deputies responded and located the victim, who was transported by ambulance to a Rome hospital. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene, along with the JSU Center for Applied Science team. The shooting appears to be part of a domestic dispute and remains under investigation by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
