According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a death has occurred in the Cherokee County Detention Center on Monday.  Sheriff Shaver called  in the State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the apparent suicide. The Coroner's Office and District Attorney's Office  are assisting.  The identity of the deceased is being reserved pending notification of next of kin.
