Four Arrested in the Sand Rock Community

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies accompanied Cherokee County Department of Human Resource staff members to a residence on County Road 49, and upon entering, they noticed the smell synthetic marijuana. Deputies detained the adults and obtained a search warrant.  Other family members of the children were contacted, and DHR completed a safety plan for the children.  Joey Dean Mullins II, 24, of Cedar Bluff, June Renee Mullins, 24, of Cedar Bluff, Benita Jordan Penland, 58, of Cedar Bluff, and Bobby Dewayne Wright, 32, of Leesburg were all arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a child.
