The Cherokee County Sheriff?s Office held a training course for area investigators recently. Investigators from the Sheriff?s Office, Cedar Bluff, Centre, and Leesburg Police Departments participated in the class on crime scene investigations. Mark Hopwood, Director, Jacksonville Forensic Laboratory, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, and an expert in forensic science, presented the class involving basic fingerprinting, mapping a crime scene, bullet trajectory, blood patterns, evidence collection, crime scene photography, and other related topics. Many times investigators call on Mr. Hopwood and his personnel to assist in working crime scenes.
