Arrest for criminal solicitation

James Thomas Stimpson, age 63, of Sand Rock, was indicted by a Cherokee County Grand Jury on a two count indictment for criminal solicitation. The indictment alleges that Mr. Stimpson solicited the murder of Lorrette Gilbert. Bond was set at $150,000. Mr. Stimpson was arrested on Friday by representatives of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Alabama Bureau of Investigation and Marshall County District Attorney's Office. Mr. Stimpson posted bond following his arrest. This case is being prosecuted by the Marshall County District Attorney's Office at the request of the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office because of an existing conflict
