Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responds to gunshot call on County Road 103

Late yesterday evening Deputies of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired on County Road 103 in the Cloudland community. Deputies arrived at the scene of the disturbance and discovered one person with an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators from the Sheriff's Office were notified to respond to the residence. The incident apparently escalated from an argument between a man and his daughters boyfriend. Billy Ray White was transported by ambulance to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for treatment of his wounds, Investigators spoke with his family and hospital personel and were told White was going to be admitted for treatment. The other person involved in the incident has been identified as James. R. Flairty of a County Road 103 address. Investigators remained on the scene of the incident for approximately five hours collecting evidence and obtaining statements from witnesses . At this time no one has been charged, the incident is currently under investigation. Mentone and Valley Head Police Departments assisted along with Dekalb Ambulance Service and area first responders.
